When Eric and I were asked to put on our Ward Christmas Party I instantly thought of this picture I found on Pinterest and how cool it would be to transform the gym into something totally different. This Bride rented a military cargo parachute for $35 from her wedding venue. I knew that wasn't going to happen.
We called some army surplus places around us and they were going fro $750-$900 a piece. That was not going to happen! We found a guy on Craigslist that was selling them for $250 which we thought was a steal, we drove down to Portland OR (3 1/2 hour drive) all to discover the guy wasnt there even after we chatted with him and made plans! We were frustrated! We ate lunch and Eric started calling surplus stores around there. Eric called Alleycat Supply in Bend OR and the guy said he had 10 of them and they were $100.
With our parachute I could create the perfect mood for our theme "Come and Behold Him"
This was the front of the invitation with the back saying the time and place.
People brought different nativities for the center pieces.
We used some leftover foam boards we had left from a few projects. Eric projected the image onto the boards and traced the shapes out. I painted them black.
We got a massive star from Ikea to put at the top.
We had soup in bread bowls and salad And dessert we had pie! Our program was focused on the wise men.
