This tip has helped me out more than I ever expected. I qould love to hear if you try it out and how if it works for you. Or maybe a tweak to it that works even better for you.
Just incase you need more information behind the book "A Hand Not Taken" here is a video for you :)
I didn't know what to expect out of yesterday but I am so grateful for all of the support. We got home from the Book Launch Party and I realized we didn't take pictures. Oh well! I had Eric snap at least this picture of me.
Thank you so much for all of the love and support!
I'm shocked by my emotions of today, I woke up wanting to crawl into a hole and hide from the world. I have never felt so vulnerable in my life. But I do know this is what I am supposed to do. Deep breath, I made it out of bed!
You can now find "A Hand Not Taken" on Amazon, Kindle, iTunes and Nook. Read away and let me know what you think!
I'm so excited my book is coming out soon! This book has been a long time coming. I can't wait for this story to be out, so people can find out that they are not alone in life. So many of us are going through hard things that no one sees.
We gave Lily's dresser a much needed facelift. I forgot to get a before picture of it before I sanded it down. Oh well!
We painted it white and Lily wanted the top purple so we did that too!
The drawers were inspired by this fabric. I painted on the big flowers and kept adding more and more random designs.
Kids got home from school and wanted to help. I cringed at the idea from my OCD side but I am so glad I let them help. They loved it and it's way more personal to Lily now. She had the awesome idea of having sercret things hidden like L's, Lily's and hidden mickeys.
Then just a few layers of poly then we added the hardware.
I have wanted to make this sign for years! I even had the 3 pallet boards Kreg Jigged together for months before staining and painting. First I picked a font I liked in Word then printed it out. I stained the whole board a walnut wood stain. Once the stain was dry I taped the whole front with painter tape. I laid the word down on top and started to cut it out with an X-Acto blade.
I peeled the tape off that was the outside of the letters to reveal the wood underneath.
Once the whole word was cut out I painted a few coats of white and let it dry overnight. I peeled off the painters tape to reveal the word. I had a few spots that ran under the tape but was able to chisel it off with the X-Acto Blade just fine.
This image is my proof I went on a tiny walk to the mailbox and to check out the flowers. Tomorrow I get to take out my pain pump!!! I'm 4 days post endometriosis surgery. It's amazing to get out of the house and feel the breeze, it has been too long!
Surgery went well! Endometriosis is not fun at all. I'm ready for the recovery chapter and becoming a functioning human again.
While being couch bound from endometriosis pain, between working and extra bad pain days. I have been working on this project I have been dreaming of publishing since I was in the 6th grade. It's a fictional story based off of my childhood. The amount I have picked over the years and me not being a fluffy person has left it dry and boring. I'm changing it and I'm already loving it so much more.
It will have to be a trilogy with the amount of detail I need to add but thats ok.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
Our extended family does a funny White Elephant gift exchange with something under $5. This is mine this year.....cold hard cash. We boiled water to make it clear when you freeze. Poured half of it in a bread pan then put the dollar bill in top of the ice then pour the last put off water on top.
Months ago my Brother called me knowing I was going to a wedding in Chicago and he brought up he was going to visit Mom and thought it would be fun to meet in Chicago and surprise Mom with me and my family.
It was a crazy day. My family woke up at 3am to catch our flight at 6am. We started driving down to the airport when our van started acting funny. We turned around to switch cars. Our car died as we turned off the highway to our house. We pushed the van through an intersection and into a parking lot. I ran home (thankfully only 1 mile) and we switched cars. My Mom was not feeling well and they were catching a train to go back home. We only had an a hour and a half window. But we did it! Happy Birthday to me!
This is my first time putting my 101 goals in 1001 days in my bullet journal! It is still new to me!
I am in the middle of my second round of doing a 101 Goals in 1001 days. I love them way more than New Years Resolutions, I always fail them but somehow I can do this. Where do you want to be in 2.75 years from now? How are you going to get here?
I found creating categories to focus on different areas help a lot to help set the goals. Categories such as Create, Travel, Family, Personal, Build, Organize, Entertainment and Health. Also, the goals need to be measurable...how can you measure "to be healthy" maybe that is eating a balanced breakfast for 1 month or running a 5k, or even waking up with your alarm. Whatever you feel you want to work on.
Now my last round I couldn't complete all of my goals because things changed before the 1001 days was up or my goals changed and that is ok. I either rolled over the goals unmet to this round of goals or I created new ones. The key is to not get frustrated not completing all of it but watching yourself make changes you wanted.
Bullet Journal Idea
When you are ready to find out your End date you can just type in your start date in this calculator HERE
I decided to add a little chart in the corner to keep track of my progress overall, for every ten I color in 10%....close enough right?!
The whole idea of new years resolutions never worked for me, I always forgot about it. This process has helped me keep my goals in the front of my mind. It's fun to see how much you have accomplished in 1001 days.
With my endometriosis pain coming back less than a year from having my 3rd surgery I have come to love this quote. The pain is not in my head. It is happening and I know where the pain level can go. But hope is just as real if not more real than the pain. Sometimes it is hard to remember that. So I am keeping this quote close :)
Come follow my new Instagram account just for my sketch inspirations. This will give you a great taste of where I got my inspiration for the designs, all thanks to images I found on Pinterest :)

How to make a DIY 2x4 Coffee Table
This DIY 2x4 Coffee Table is actually fairly simple. The first step is to cut off the rounded edges of the 2x4. We don't have a table saw but we do have a rip fence which gets the job done. For the first side to all of the 2x4s I cut then all down to 3 1/4, then once all the boards were that size I cut the other rounded side down to an even 3 inches.
Funny side note: When I had just one board left I was winded from being so weak from surgery a few months ago. My son became my cheerleader saying "It's ok Mommy you only have one more left". With those sweet words I finished and then took a break, I need to work out!
DIY 2x4 Coffee Table Board sizes and quanities:
14 boards @ 13 inches
12 boards @ 16 inches
7 boards @36 inches
6 boards @ 30 inches.
I really wanted there to be no nails showing at all. We pretty much built the table on its side gluing and screwing each board into the one underneath until we got to the very last one. With the last we JUST glued it on. Once it was all together we flipped it over so the just glued side would have that much pressure on it. And we let it dry.
First round of sanding was intense! Once it was not as rough we put putty in all of the seams.
And sanded some more. Then we stained it with Minwax mahogany stain, then polyurethane, light sanding, polyurethane.
Overall, I am happy with how this DIY 2x4 Coffee Table turned out. I love how simple it looks with just two sides to the table. I also love the interlocking sides with the top it gives a unique quality with the table. And wow that thing is heavy, I was curious so I weighed it and it is 60 pounds of a solid coffee table.
I'm so excited to share this project for others to enjoy of a Fashion Sketches Coloring Book! This coloring book has been a long time coming and has given me something fun to create while not feeling well. It's crazy to think of where this book came from.
Behind Fashion Sketches Coloring Book:
I became very depressed and withdrawn from the world once Endometriosis pain started taking over my body. With waiting for appointments and surgery it became very hard to find purpose for feel useful. I'm the type of person that has to be doing something at all times or I go crazy. So making me lay on the couch for months was not good. One day I decided to take a picture I found on line that made me start wondering "what would this look like if it was a dress?" so I drew it. Then another and another. The next thing I knew I set a goal for 60 design sketches. Once I hit that goal I kept going all the way to 100.
This project gave me something to do, something to look forward to. I felt alive while I was stuck. It helped me focus on something other than the pain. But somedays I couldn't get around that and I couldn't draw those days.
I want the world to know that no matter what is going on in your life you can always find away for find something good in it. I found light in a dark place and I am so grateful for this coloring book.

Here is a video of whats the sketches look like:
Our Elf Charlie has been lazy this year and hasn't moved much. But this morning he out did himself! He made snowflakes using our Names. Lily was so excited about it that she started making them too and adding them to the bookshelf
Here is my snowflake
Close up of my name.
Eric's was my favorite!
I created out invitation, which we printed at moo.com with their Luxe paper which had a thick colored paper between the front and back. Ours had red between. The other awesome thing about Moo is each invitation had the couple’s name printed on them. The Swirl Tree was the Front and the back was all of the information to the party.
We sealed it with a wax B and hand delivered each invite.
We had fun matching our tree to our theme.
I found this candelabra at TJMax in black and we spray painted it. It reminded me of the tree on the front of the invitation so it was perfect!
I made these stars from this tutorial I found on Pinterest, HERE
